Angels In The Dust Tonight In Jubilee Hall, Admission Is Free

Angels in the Dust, a documentary film about a family's work with children orphaned by AIDS in Africa, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Friday, May 9) in Jubilee Hall. Admission is free, and donations are welcome to support African AIDS ministries. Film director Louise Hogarth will also lead a Q&A. Reach Out To Aldersgate
On Mother's Day (May 11), look for special envelopes in the pew clips in the Sanctuary and at Church In The Round supporting the annual outreach to the Aldersgate United Methodist retirement community in Charlotte. Gifts will support the fund that helps residents in financial need. You can put yout check in the envelope in the offering plate on Sunday, or mail it in.

Festival Singers In Concert
Carolina Voices' Festival Singers will perform Bravo! Stars of Contemporary Choral Music at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, in the Sanctuary. Tickets are $15, with discounts for seniors, students and groups. Details: 704-374-1564 or www.carolinavoices.org.

Someone In The Hospital?
Remember to share news of a loved one who has been hospitalized, or is ill at home and needs a visit. Call 704-376-8584. Privacy laws no longer allow hospitals to call the church.

Help The Jam
Our sister congregation, South Tryon Community Church, seeks volunteers to help at Community Spirit Jam on Saturday, May 31, at Southside Park. The event will include music, games and more. Details: 704-347-4207.

Camp Tekoa Weekend May 23-25
The church weekend at Camp Tekoa in the N.C. mountains is May 23-25. Registration forms are at the front desk in the Parish Life Building. Deadline to register is May 11. Details: Ellen Spence at EllenSpence@carolina.rr.com or Margo Wells at Wells@mindspring.com.

Support St. Luke Fund
Gifts are welcome for the St. Luke Fund, created to help church members dealing with a temporary financial crisis. Make checks payable to the church. Indicate St. Luke on the memo line.

Spring Carnival This Saturday
The annual Children's Circle spring carnival to benefit the church preschool will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in the church parking lot (in Jubilee Hall if the weather's bad). The event features games, train rides, pony rides, arts and crafts, silent auction, children's singer Roger Day and more. It's free, with discounted game and ride tickets available in the church lobby May 7-9. Tickets will also be sold at the carnival.

Adults Plus! Program May 21
Dr. Howell will present a report on the recent General Conference at the next Adults Plus! program at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, in Room 107/108 of the Parish Life Building. Lunch follows. For luncheon reservations by noon Tuesday, May 20, call 704-376-5520 (ext. 5200). Adults Plus! is a ministry to those 55 and over. Its activities, of course, are open to all.

Support Our Troops
Supplies for soldiers are being accepted in the lobby of the Parish Life Building. Please bring items to the church by Sunday, June 1. Recommended items: body wash, shampoo, hand sanitizer, deodorant, lotion, razors, shaving cream, sunscreen, nail clippers, Band-Aids, unscented wipes, playing cards, flashlights, candy (no chocolate, it melts!) crosswords or other puzzle books, and AT&T calling cards. Letters to “Any Soldier” are welcome as well and will be distributed randomly.

For Your Health
Assisted hearing devices are available in the narthex on Sunday mornings. AEDs (automatic external defibrillators) are on the wall behind the Sanctuary near the choir room; at the front desk in the lobby of the Parish Life Building; and in the Youth Building gym.
