Mission Statement
The Health Ministries Team will serve our faith community by offering information, education, opportunity, and encouragement to those who seek the well being of mind, body and spirit experienced in the abundant life available to us in Jesus Christ.

Health Minstries encourages whole health in a variety of ways:

Bloodmobile - Scheduled quarterly at Myers Park United Methodist Church in February, May, August and November. Contact Susan Shaver at zshaver@bellsouth.net or Linda Ford Banner at lindaban@bellsouth.net for more information or to volunteer.
     How to Become A Bone Marrow Donor

New Parent Visitation -  Visits made to new parents to offer support and to deliver casseroles. Contact Betsy Scott at BetsyandGeorge@carolina.rr.com for more information or to volunteer.

Medical Equipment Closet -  Walkers, wheelchairs and other medical equipment that can be loaned to members. Contact Carmen Rivera at crivera@mpumc.org for information or to borrow equipment.

Home and Hospital Visitation -  Visits to provide education, advocacy and connection to appropriate community resources. Contact Carmen Rivera at crivera@mpumc.org to volunteer or to notify the church of your visitation needs.

Caregiver Support Group -  Meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 104 of the Parish Live Building to support anyone caring for a loved one, with special needs. Details: Susan Mobley, Parish Nurse at smobley@mpumc.org.

Health Education -  Programs and information provided to the congregation on health issues. Set up an appointment with Parish Nurse, Susan Mobley via e-mail: smobley@mpumc.org.

Flu Shots - Given every fall here at Myers Park United Methodist Church. Check bulletins, newsletter and main Web site for guidelines and dates flu shots are available.

Care Teams - Volunteers working as a team offering practical support to individuals and families with health concerns. More information and sign up.

Charlotte Community Health Clinic - Medical and non-medical volunteers staff this clinic on Eastway Drive monthly. This clinic serves those in our community who do not have health insurance. Details: Pat Dozier, pdozier@carolina.rr.com or 704-752-6374.
