Wesley Trust: Endowing the future, serving the faith
Officers are Chairman Dixon Crum, Vice Chairman Roger Privette and Secretary Courtenay Miller. Other trustees: Bonnie Fleming, Bill Grigg, Laurie Guy, Jerry Richardson, Ed Spears and Meredith Thompson. Ex-officio members: Dr. James C. Howell, senior pastor, and Business Administrator JoAnn Horstman.
A $5 million gift from the estate of a church member in the mid-1990s allowed the trust to expand by supporting outreach efforts, largely through Jubilee grants. The Trust stands now at $9.8 million, on which only the earnings can be spent. Trustees have approved spending about $450,000 in 2007, of which $200,000 will go for outreach through those Jubilee grants. In 2006, Jubilee grants went to Charlotte Rescue Mission, a Christian ministry which works with those fighting alcohol and drug abuse, and a Methodist church in Sri Lanka, among a dozen others.
