Youth Ministry at Myers Park United Methodist Church offers an array of opportunities to volunteer for youth and adults alike. Time commitments vary in length, so if you're a long range vision-type person who likes to plan, the Youth Advisory Board may be for you. Prefer short term commitments? Friends Of Youth Ministry offers you the chance to volunteer for a special project and puts your organizational or creative gifts to work. Rather be spending time with middle schoolers or high schoolers? You just might be a terrific Youth Ministry Partner. Are you a middle schooler or high schooler that would like a more active role in youth ministry? Express yourself by being on the Youth Leadership Team. Together these groups, along with the Youth Ministry Staff, combine to form the Youth Ministry Team that makes our youth program a great place to be!
 

Youth
Leadership Team

The Youth Leadership Team is comprised of both middle school and senior high youth.  Its purpose is to offer monthly evaluation and brainstorming to enhance the youth ministry.  YLT members participate in a set number of Sunday evening programs per semester.  They are expected to attend YLT meetings regularly and to participate in additional roles in the life of the church or youth program.  A Covenant of Conduct is agreed upon annually by the YLT and signed by each member.  Invitations to participate are extended by  the  Director of Youth Ministry based on a submitted application of interest. 

Term of service is from June-May.
Youth Advisory Board

The purpose of the Youth Advisory Board is to develop the mission and vision of Youth Ministry at Myers Park United Methodist Church. The  YAB assists the Youth Ministry staff in evaluating the needs of the youth served and the programming offered.  The team consists of twelve members, each serving three year terms.  It is chaired by two members of the Advisory Board for a rotating two-year term.  The board is consulted on philosophy in ministry and program vision as well as issues of personnel, fundraising, budgeting, calendar planning.

Term of service is 3 years.

Meets 2-3 times during the year
Youth Ministry Partners

YMPs are adult participants in youth ministry that seek to be in active relationship with youth. YMPs include Sunday morning leaders, Sunday evening leaders, Confirmation coordinators, Small
group leaders, CHAMP volunteers, Pilgrimage, Mission Trip and Retreat Captains/Chaperones. Sunday morning and evening leaders are organized into high school and middle school teams that meet monthly and/or are in regular communication with one another. YMPs are expected to recruit other volunteers and upon leaving their post, to find their replacement in cooperation with the Youth Ministry Staff. YMPs receive Safe Sanctuary training at the beginning of each school year.

Term of service depends on the position but is either one or two years: June-May.


Friends of
Youth Ministry


Friends of Youth Ministry is a group of volunteers for Youth Ministry who include volunteers coordinators for these special events: Christmas Tree Sale, Love Feast, Flamingo Awards, Back to School Bash, Summer Expo, Fundraisers, Breakfast Islands, Local Mission Team Captain, Senior Recognition, Sunday Evening Meals, etc.
