Marks of a Maturing Christian

“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart,
and with all your soul, and with all your might.” Deuteronomy 6:5

- participates in Christian community
“For as in one body we have many members, and all the members
do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ,
and individually members one of another.” Romans 12:4-5

- actively participates in the worship life of the congregation
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship,
to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42

- is a student of the Bible
“All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction,
and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

- seeks God through prayer
“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

- practices good stewardship of all God’s gifts, including time and treasure
“As each has received a gift, employ it for one another,
as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10

- has an understanding of the history and theology of the church
“Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:28

- is willing to share the faith with others
“you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem
and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth” Acts 1:8

- is involved in servant ministry both inside and outside the church
“Then he will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.'” Matthew 25:45

- is committed to Christ’s life-giving ministry of reconciliation and forgiveness
“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself
and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling
the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and
entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
